Photographers @ Pune - 3rd annual exhibition.

Hallo all,

there is a good news :) ok two of my images are getting displayed in the 3rd annual exhibition of photographers at Pune, an online group of photography enthusiasts in and around pune. The better news is one of these two images got sold and is a winner from a pool of 250+ entries that were up in the competition :) :) :)

OK this is the winner image that got sold.

and this is the other image, both of these will be displayed in the exhibition on 13,14 and 15th of this month.

Post Processing - Art Or Not !!

wassup ?? well ok let me start with the definition thats from wiki - "Art is the process or product of deliberately arranging elements in a way that appeals to the senses or emotions. It encompasses a diverse range of human activities, creations, and modes of expression, including music, literature, film, sculpture, and paintings. The meaning of art is explored in a branch of philosophy known as aesthetics" . oh wow thats interesting isnt it ?? though they din mention photography in that small list but yaa ofcourse photography is an art form..

Now during my rendezvous with photography i came across with artists (both offline and online) who have very strong belief towards manipulation of images after they are kliked.. i mean post production in photo manipulation tools. some feel that straight out of camera(SOOC) images is real photography and if you manipulate the images they become digital art, for them photography is capturing as we see and the biggest justification being "Great artists present us with a record of natural beauty as it truly is".. on the other hand there are people who say they will use any tools and techniques available to produce the best of images.. in todays day its photo manilpulation tools like photoshop or gimp or lightroom etc etc but in earlier years they had dark rooms where they used different kind of films and chemicals to do the same. so they will post process them to make them the best.

Now this argument and discussion can go on for ages.. in my early days of photography even till recent times i had that conception that one should try and klik images as he see.. but then things change and you learn things and concepts every day.. Art has got so many aspects to explore :).. there are images that i have kliked and i felt some sympbolism or kind of feeling that i can feel was hidden in those images.. but the expressive power was not there in the images.. they were kind of you know were trying hard to say but were unable to speak.. there was always that lil bit that was missing in those images that wud have completed the story.. and from there i picked on manipulating images to add a bit of mood to the images so that they can be a bit more expressive rather then a delight to look at stuff.

Recently one of my friend asked me after going through this series that are they manipulated ?? i said yes !! he said they are good but wud have been great if they were straight out of camera. well i dont think one can get these images SOOC .. thats not possible with modern day technology :)

I hope you liked this new series. this is one of the toughest ventures and so the frequency of images may drop a bit but then keep checking.. your thoughts and views are most welcome.

Not So Random Musings.

Halucinations:
imagination deep inside of self just comes out sometimes and make me feel halucinated.life is a halucination unimaginable, uncontroled, moving and halucinated.what a dream if it breaks someday,i get up in the morning and see things around changed ,halucination.

Suffocation:
whats more suffocating ??is it being underwater or being unable to talk..
whats more uneasy ??is it the sensation of hunger or the countless questions wandering in mind ..

Welcome To Reality:
sometimes i get surprised by experiencing the usual..
u know its kind of normal but strange at its best..
Huh its tirying but yup Welome To Reality..

Insignificant realities:
Sharp Unclear..
the Existence..
Surrounded by Realities.
Insignificant Realities

Simply Trying:
To be different..
To get noticed..
To stand apart..
not alone but among all..
just with and identity..
Simply trying.

Is this You:
Waiting for something to happen..
for some start.
Like a blank paper.
waiting for the ink.
the ink that gives it a meaning.
the meaning that makes it immortal.

Numbers:
Its just a matter of number,
Money, time, days, contacts..
you got to have a bigger number.

Confusion:
extraordinary experiences by ordinary.
the thoughts in the subconcious.
Moving,Floating,Wandering.
contrast to the real world.
perhaps another state of existence.
OR
Confusion.

Adjustments:
Its not about winning over the obstacles..
that happens seldom.. its more about making a compromise with them..
you make adjustments.. to survive..
you make that all the times and think you are the winner.. that makes you happy but the content comes when you are on your own with no obstacles around.. like a mighty banyan tree..

Voodoo:
Did you ever think ??
Or Realize ??
Or you Cant just think anymore !!??

Drunk Again:
yaa..
why ??
was feeling lonely and bored..
is that an excuse ??
no an answer..

Make Me Yours:
There is this constant battle going on..
between light and darkness..
both trying to win over each other..
both trying to make the other his..

Dont Turn Around:
Just a look perhaps.. missed..
Just that moment perhaps..gone..
Just that something that i wanted to say..i forgot..
but dont turn around..

A Matter Of Contradictions:
A rather obvious one.. the thought..
speaks out loud..and is caught..
in a whirlpool.. just a matter of contradictions..

Only If:
Chain of events, we call consequences as they all are results of another set of events placed in another set of time, which are again consequences.. the only ruling question is Only If.

Let Me Break Free:
Its stinking inside, rotten might be, the thoughts that want to fly.
The imaginations, weird and wired, want to get realized.
The soul that's traped inside my body. Let It Break Free.

Fear Yourself:
Do you fear yourself.. no.. yes you do.. there is this other side of coin.. the other side of you hidden from others, your real self that comes out only when your desires are not getting fullfilled you lose yourself, you shout, you cry,you beat. you commit crime, you never thought you can and would ever do that but this other side of you makes you do that. do you fear yourself ?? the other side of you ?? I DO !!

Time:
And everything gets old and cold with TIME, with TIME the colors fade away, people loose smile with TIME. Extraordinary gestures become ordinary, with TIME.

Trance:
what is it that i want to say, abstract halucinated random thoughts might be, but they are there wandering in my mind , no answers no questions no reasons just moving are the thoughts. what is it that i am going through what is it i am moving towards. Trance.

High Key - Low Key

Hallo all,

well yup was out for quiet some time now.. was overcoming the biggest and longest creative downturn of last one year.. ok lets get back to photography.. you must have seen some regular images.. we all shoot regular images.. by regular i mean images in which the contrast is even or flat.. but then there are images where there is lot more arty work rather then just kliking.. there are times when you want to make your images to render some mood.. say for example if an image has lots of darkness or black in it, it generally evokes negative or sad emotions.. on the other hand a very bright with lots of white will try to make you happy.. though this may not be the case all the times.. ok let me talk about High Key and Low Key here.

High Key : high key image is one in which there is lots of white around or brightness around. this can be achived either by using high key lighting techniques or post processing the images later in photo manipulation softwares.. though using the lights is prefferd as the output comes in lesser time and the quality is indeed better. here are some examples.(click on image to view large)

Low Key : now a low key image is one in which there is lots of darkness, there is abundance of black in these images.. they normally render a negative mood, mystery, sadness.. in low key images the lighting is very important as if you expose any part of image that you wanted to keep in darkness then post processing that is according to the idea is almost impossible and if done too then also doesnt lives upto expectations. some examples of low key images..

Both Low Key and High Key add to the drama and make images interesting.. you can google these terms to see the lighting techniques or Post Processing techniques to do the same.

Hallo all,

wats up these days ?? ok hmm i hope you all know by now that i do a bit of photography :) hmm though the bug bit in college but it all started once i got my first cam after joining the job.. even before the episode i made a small abstract art film using a SONY Cybershot point and shoot digital camera.. i think some of my friends have seen this but after around 1 and 1/2 year i felt like sharing it with you all.. keep in mind this was an experiment and no serious stuff.. watch it and do drop your feedback here coz that matters a lot, it wont take more then 2 minutes to do so.
